“I know the politicians behind them” — Igboho vows to expose kidnapping sponsors in Oyo

Igboho Ogbomoso kidnappers politicians claim sparks controversy as activist alleges political backing and says he can rescue abducted pupils

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has alleged that some politicians are backing kidnappers responsible for the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, claiming he is prepared to reveal their identities.

Igboho made the remarks while hosting newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by Akinteye Babatunde at his residence in Ibadan, where he spoke on the worsening insecurity in parts of the state.

He claimed that individuals within the political class are allegedly providing support to criminal networks operating in the region, warning that he would publicly name them if the attacks continue.

“I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all,” he said.

Igboho Ogbomoso kidnappers claim adds a controversial dimension to ongoing discussions surrounding the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

The activist also said he was willing to take part in rescue operations, insisting that kidnappers could be flushed out of their hideouts if security agencies allowed him to act.

“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee,” he stated.

Igboho further alleged that his proposed involvement in rescue operations was not approved by the Oyo State Government, claiming officials later warned that abductors threatened harm to the victims if he intervened.

He also referenced his security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, saying it had received federal approval but was restricted from operating in the state.

“The Federal Government permitted me, but the state government said no security must take a step behind them,” he added.

The activist also linked the current insecurity challenges to broader political tensions, alleging attempts to destabilise the administration of President Bola Tinubu, though he provided no evidence to support the claim.

The Oyo State Government has not formally responded to Igboho’s latest allegations at the time of filing this report.
