Oyo kidnapping rescue sees police free abducted mother and twins in Ibadan, neutralise suspects and dismantle armed gang
The Oyo State Police Command, working in coordination with the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT)) and the Nigeria Police Force (Nigeria Police Force), has successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and her twin sons in a decisive intelligence-led operation across Ibadan.

The operation, conducted under the authority of the Oyo State Police Command, also resulted in the neutralisation of two armed suspects, the arrest of four others, and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, operational vehicles, and other incriminating exhibits linked to a kidnapping syndicate.
According to a detailed briefing, the operation followed a distress report received on 3 June 2026 at about 7:30 a.m., after Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, aged 42, and her 11-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted while en route to school in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Camry along Elewura Street, Off Ring Road, in Ibadan.
Security operatives described the intervention as a “major breakthrough” in ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks across the state.
The Oyo kidnapping rescue was triggered by swift mobilisation of intelligence teams following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, leading to a coordinated manhunt across multiple operational theatres.
Investigators said early intelligence from the scene led to the arrest of Wale Abolalewa, popularly known as “Oloro”, a suspect already on the command’s watchlist.
His detention reportedly provided critical leads that helped expose the wider structure of the kidnapping gang.
Further interrogation and intelligence exploitation led to the arrest of Dare Oyedele, also known as “Solution”, identified by investigators as a key operational figure within the syndicate.
Authorities said his role was central to the coordination and execution of the abduction.
Preliminary findings revealed that the gang had earlier attempted to infiltrate the victims’ household through an insider, Segun, a staff member attached to the family.
Investigators believe the suspect network conducted extensive surveillance on the family’s movements, routines, and the schools attended by the children before executing the abduction.
Police further disclosed that the syndicate initially planned a different target but later proceeded with the kidnapping on 3 June 2026 using operational vehicles, before being tracked and disrupted through sustained intelligence pressure.
The command confirmed that rescued victims have been debriefed and are receiving appropriate care, while investigations continue to dismantle remaining elements of the criminal network believed to be operating across multiple locations.

Authorities described the operation as a demonstration of enhanced intelligence capability and inter-agency coordination, reinforcing efforts to curb violent crime and restore public confidence in security operations across the state.
