Oyo kidnap rescue operation leads to arrests, deaths of suspects, and rescue of Busola Adelabu and her twin children in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, on Sunday confirmed a dramatic Oyo Kidnap Rescue Operation in Ibadan that led to the arrest of four suspects, the killing of two others, and the rescue of Busola Adelabu, sister of All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant Bayo Adelabu, alongside her twin children.

The operation, which took place on Saturday night in the Ayegun area of Oluyole Local Government Area, also resulted in the recovery of firearms, including a pump-action gun, after a prolonged shootout between police operatives and the abductors.
According to CP Abimbola, the police acted on credible intelligence which guided operatives to a three-bedroom bungalow where the victims were being held.
“The police acted on a tip-off, which eventually resulted in the rescuing of the victims,” Abimbola said while briefing journalists in Ibadan.
The suspects were reportedly flushed out of the building where the victims had been held captive after a swift and coordinated assault by security operatives.
The confrontation escalated into a gun battle that left two suspects dead, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
Four suspects were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody as investigations continue into the kidnapping network believed to be operating in the area.
The rescued victims, Busola Adelabu, also identified as Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, were abducted in the early hours of Wednesday at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
Police sources said the attackers trailed the vehicle conveying the victims before intercepting them at about 7:30 a.m., forcibly taking them away in a coordinated abduction.
The Oyo Kidnap Rescue Operation has been described by security officials as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping syndicates in the state, which have increasingly targeted high-profile individuals and their families.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued victims have been reunited with their family members, including Bayo Adelabu, following their release.
Security operatives have since intensified patrols in suspected flashpoints, with the Commissioner of Police assuring residents that the command remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements across the state.
Investigations are ongoing as police continue a manhunt for fleeing suspects believed to have sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

The incident has once again drawn attention to rising security concerns in parts of Oyo State, even as authorities insist that recent operations signal a tightening grip on criminal networks.
