British-Nigerian singer and songwriter Talay Riley has died after being stabbed in East London, United Kingdom. He was 35.

Riley, whose real name was Mark Yinka Orabiyi, was a Grammy-winning and multi-platinum-selling songwriter known for his work with several international music stars during a successful career in the music industry.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Friday on Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown, East London.
Emergency services responded to the scene and attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Police have launched a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
In a statement released following the tragedy, Riley’s family confirmed his death and expressed profound sorrow over the loss.
“It is with overwhelming sadness that we confirm that Mark ‘Yinka’ Orabiyi, professionally known as Talay Riley, passed away yesterday morning,” the family said.
They described him as an exceptionally gifted musician whose songwriting talent earned worldwide recognition and acclaim.
The family said he would be remembered not only for his musical achievements but also for his kindness, humour, generosity and vibrant personality.
“Talay will be remembered publicly for his incredible talent as a Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum-selling songwriter and artist. For those who knew and loved him personally, it is his humour, generous spirit, and unmistakable presence that will be missed the most,” the statement added.
The family also thanked fans, friends and fellow musicians for the support and tributes received since news of his death emerged.
Riley built a respected reputation within the global music industry, contributing to numerous successful projects and earning recognition as one of Britain’s accomplished contemporary songwriters.
