The announcement was made via his verified X account, where the governor framed the decision as part of efforts to sustain policy continuity while strengthening leadership capacity within Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu said the arrangement reflects a governance approach anchored on experience, stability and inclusiveness, stressing that leadership succession should consolidate ongoing progress rather than disrupt it.
He stated that “the true test of sustainable governance is the ability to pass the baton to proven hands, guided by minds that see the future clearly,” adding that the ticket represents “the strength, diversity and future” of Lagos State.
The governor praised Dr Obafemi Hamzat for his role in the current administration, describing him as a dependable partner in governance and a committed public servant who has consistently supported development initiatives across the state.
He also highlighted Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as a strong addition to the team, noting her background in sustainability and community-focused initiatives, as well as her involvement in youth and grassroots development programmes.
According to Sanwo-Olu, her inclusion brings valuable experience that aligns with the aspirations of many Lagos residents, particularly in the areas of community engagement and inclusive development.
He added that both candidates possess the experience and energy required to build on existing reforms and accelerate growth across Lagos State.
As political preparations intensify ahead of the elections, the governor called on party members, stakeholders and residents to support the APC ticket, describing it as central to the vision of a more developed and forward-looking Lagos.
