The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, in partnership with Rite Foods, will honour seven outstanding Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million each at the maiden JAMB excellence award ceremony in Lagos on Tuesday
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday 30 June 2026 honour seven outstanding Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million each at the maiden Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony in Lagos.
The initiative aims to reward exceptional academic performance during the 2025 admission exercise, recognising students who excelled in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and their respective post-UTME or institutional screening processes.
JAMB Public Communication Adviser Fabian Benjamin said the seven beneficiaries emerged through a transparent, rigorous and merit-based selection process coordinated by the board. Six recipients represent the country’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh award goes to the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The awardees are drawn from the University of Lagos in the South-West, the University of Uyo in the South-South, the Federal University of Technology Owerri in the South-East, the Federal University of Applied Sciences Kachia in the North-West, the University of Maiduguri in the North-East and the Federal University of Technology Minna in the North-Central.
The recipient of the award for the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability is also from the University of Lagos, making it the only institution with two awardees in this inaugural edition.
The event is expected to attract more than 300 participants, including the Minister of Education, JAMB Registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, education stakeholders, development partners, corporate leaders, students and members of the media.
The partnership between JAMB and Rite Foods reflects both organisations’ commitment to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue educational achievement.
This JAMB excellence award initiative highlights the importance of recognising hard work and academic distinction in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process, providing both financial support and public recognition to exceptional students.
