Social media influencer and brother Tristan detained in Miami as British prosecutors pursue new rape, trafficking and assault charges

Radical social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, have been arrested in Miami, Florida, by the United States Marshals Service, as British authorities move to extradite the pair over new allegations including rape, arranging or facilitating sex trafficking, assault and offences relating to indecent images of a child.

The arrests, confirmed on Saturday by the US Marshals Service, mark the latest development in a series of criminal investigations involving the brothers across multiple jurisdictions.

Officials said the arrest warrant remains under seal and declined to disclose the specific charges contained in the US warrant.

The Andrew Tate arrest came after the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that it had authorised further charges against both men and formally requested their extradition from the United States.

According to the CPS, the brothers collectively face 59 criminal charges, with 42 counts brought against Andrew Tate and 17 counts against Tristan Tate.

Announcing the decision, Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said the prosecution followed the receipt of additional evidence from Bedfordshire Police.

“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” McHaffie said.

“The CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US,” he added, noting that the latest evidence increased the number of alleged victims in the case to seven.

Video published by US entertainment outlet TMZ showed law enforcement officers placing the brothers in handcuffs before escorting them into waiting vehicles.

In footage shared on social media, Tristan Tate did not respond when asked by an onlooker whether he wished to comment.

The brothers’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, rejected the allegations and maintained that both men remain innocent.

“The brothers are innocent,” McBride said in a statement.

“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free.”

The latest legal action follows earlier investigations in the United Kingdom. Police in Hertfordshire reopened an inquiry this year into rape and sexual assault allegations reportedly made against Andrew Tate between 2014 and 2015.

Separate investigations by Bedfordshire Police, which covers the brothers’ hometown of Luton, also involve allegations of rape and human trafficking brought by different complainants.

British authorities are additionally investigating the brothers over alleged tax evasion and money laundering.

The Tate brothers, who hold dual British and American citizenship, have also faced legal scrutiny in the United States and Romania.

In March 2025, authorities in the US state of Florida announced a criminal investigation involving the brothers, although officials have not publicly disclosed the current status of that inquiry.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Romania, where Andrew and Tristan Tate have spent much of the past several years, are pursuing separate allegations involving trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering.

The brothers have consistently denied wrongdoing in those proceedings.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer turned online personality, has built a global following through social media platforms, where he promotes controversial views centred on traditional masculinity and has attracted widespread criticism for statements widely described as misogynistic.

He has more than 10.8 million followers on X.

The extradition request now places the brothers at the centre of a complex international legal process.

Under US law, any transfer to the United Kingdom would be subject to judicial proceedings before a final decision is made by the relevant authorities.

As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain unproven unless established in court, and the Tate brothers continue to deny any criminal wrongdoing.
