Presenting the report, Mr Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, said sustained investments in cleaner production methods, resource management and improved operational practices contributed to the company’s progress during the year.

The company recorded a reduction of more than five per cent in greenhouse gas emissions, a 23 per cent improvement in carbon intensity, a 15 per cent rise in water-use efficiency and a 27 per cent improvement in solid waste management.

Rite Foods also expanded its transition towards cleaner energy sources, with natural gas now accounting for more than 93 per cent of its energy mix.

The company said it is continuing to explore renewable energy solutions as part of its wider ambition to reduce its environmental impact.

Rite Foods has voluntarily aligned its sustainability reporting with internationally recognised frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and elements of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.

The move highlights the company’s focus on accountability and global best practices in environmental, social and governance reporting.

The latest sustainability report comes as businesses worldwide face growing expectations to demonstrate measurable action on climate responsibility, resource efficiency and social impact.

Through continued investment in sustainable manufacturing, technology and community initiatives, Rite Foods aims to strengthen its position as a responsible Nigerian company with global ambitions.
