A Lagos church founder was arrested in Isolo, Lagos State, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after the father of two teenage girls petitioned the police over allegations that the pastor sexually abused both daughters.

The case followed a petition dated July 28, 2026, submitted by the girls’ father, who is described as a member of the pastor’s church.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani subsequently directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, to conduct a thorough investigation.

According to a police source cited by the News Agency of Nigeria, the allegations concern two sisters, including an elder daughter who was allegedly abused from the age of 13 until she turned 16 and gained admission to university.

The younger sister, aged 14, allegedly reported the pastor to her parents after separate incidents that brought the wider allegations to light.

The police source alleged that the pastor used religious teachings to manipulate the younger girl, claiming similar tactics had allegedly been used in his interactions with her elder sister.

Following the younger daughter’s disclosure, the elder sister reportedly told her parents that the pastor had allegedly been sexually abusing her for several years.

The investigation is being handled by the Gender Section of the SCID, Yaba, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dayo Akinbisehin.

The police source said the suspect had been apprehended and allegedly confessed during the investigation. The allegation remains subject to the ongoing police inquiry, and no court has yet determined his guilt.

“The investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the source said.

The case adds to recent efforts by the Lagos State Police Command to channel allegations involving vulnerable victims through specialised investigative units.

In June, the command transferred an alleged human trafficking case involving three young women to the SCID’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Gender Unit for further investigation.

The Lagos command has also recently intensified investigations into violent and organised crimes under Commissioner Fatai Tijani, including cases involving suspected cult groups and other serious offences.

For the family involved, the investigation now represents a crucial step towards establishing what happened and determining whether criminal charges should follow.
