The chairman of the Ogun State Park Management Services (OGSPAM), Akeem Bodunrin, popularly known as Iyeru, has died.

Iyeru reportedly passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at his residence in Ogun State. Colleagues and associates in the transport sector confirmed his death, although the cause has not been officially disclosed.

His death has sent shockwaves through Ogun State’s transport community, where he was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in motor park administration and road transport union leadership.

Before heading OGSPAM, Iyeru served as the acting chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) following his emergence as the consensus leader of the union in 2019 during efforts to restore peace across motor parks in the state.

Under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Government later established the Ogun State Park Management Services, with Iyeru appointed to oversee the management of parks and transport operations across the state. The agency became responsible for coordinating ticketing, park administration and maintaining order within the state’s transport system.

Throughout his leadership, Iyeru remained a prominent figure in Ogun’s transport sector, often at the centre of discussions surrounding park management and efforts to curb violence among rival transport groups.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Ogun State Government nor the Ogun State Police Command had issued an official statement on his death, while funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Tributes have begun pouring in from transport union members and associates, who described Iyeru as a grassroots leader whose influence shaped the administration of motor parks across Ogun State for several years.
