Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has expressed his determination to succeed at AC Monza after completing a loan move from Inter Milan, saying the Serie A club’s ambition played a decisive role in his decision.

The 20-year-old joins Monza after successive loan spells at Sampdoria and Pisa, where he gained valuable first-team experience in both Serie B and Serie A.

Speaking about his move, Akinsanmiro said he immediately felt welcomed by everyone at Monza and was impressed by the club’s long-term vision.

“From the first day I was welcomed by the people around me at Monza, I could see the ambition of the club as well. I want to improve and be part of the team’s success,” he said.

Monza confirmed the signing on an initial season-long loan from Inter Milan, with the agreement including an obligation to make the transfer permanent if certain conditions are met.

Akinsanmiro began his football journey with Remo Stars before moving to Inter in January 2023 following impressive performances at the Viareggio Tournament. He initially featured for Inter’s Primavera side, where he scored six goals and helped establish himself as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.

His rapid development earned him a Serie A debut for Inter in February 2024, before embarking on loan moves designed to accelerate his growth.

During the 2024/25 campaign, the midfielder made 35 Serie B appearances for Sampdoria, contributing a goal and an assist, before returning to Italy’s top flight with Pisa in the 2025/26 season, where he featured in 24 Serie A matches.

Reflecting on those experiences, Akinsanmiro described his time at Sampdoria and Pisa as transformative.

“Sampdoria gave me that first-team experience for an entire season. It was a difficult season, but I learnt a lot from the two teams. They changed me mentally and showed me how important it is to win matches,” he said.

His performances in Italy also earned him his first senior call-up to the Super Eagles, further underlining his emergence as one of Nigeria’s promising midfield talents.

Monza, newly returned to Serie A, are rebuilding under head coach Ivan Jurić and view Akinsanmiro as an important addition to their midfield as they seek to establish themselves in the top flight.
