The Federal Government has arraigned Adeniyi Adeyemi, described by authorities as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, over alleged forgery.

Adeyemi was brought before Justice Muhammed Umar, where he faced an eight-count charge relating to alleged forgery.

The Federal Government alleges that Adeyemi forged an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and signed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The allegations are yet to be determined by the court, and Adeyemi remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty.

The arraignment followed Adeyemi’s arrest and detention by the police. He was reportedly taken to court on Wednesday for the commencement of the proceedings.

The case centres on the alleged creation and use of official-looking documents connected to the purported government agency and Adeyemi’s claimed appointment.

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of individuals and are expected to clarify the specific allegations contained in the eight-count charge and the evidence the prosecution organisations presenting themselves as government-linked bodies or officials.
