Rotary International Districts 9111 and 9112 will hold their joint annual Rotary Public Image Seminar on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Lagos, bringing together Rotarians, journalists, public relations professionals and media practitioners to explore strategies for strengthening the organisation’s visibility and credibility in Nigeria.
The seminar, scheduled for 10am, will be held under the theme, “Beyond Visibility: Building a Public Image That Endures and Creates a Lasting Impact.”
District 9111 Governor, Rotarian Bukola Bakare, said the seminar was designed to equip Rotarians, club Public Image Chairmen and communications professionals with knowledge and practical tools to communicate Rotary’s work more effectively and strengthen its public profile.
Bakare said public image was an important part of expanding Rotary’s reach by telling the organisation’s stories of service and showcasing the impact of its projects.
District 9112 Governor, Rotarian Layi Abidoye, said the event would focus on more than logos and slogans, stressing the importance of equipping members with the right communication tools to tell Rotary’s story with clarity, credibility and impact.
According to Abidoye, a strong public image can help strengthen Rotary’s service projects while building greater public trust in the organisation.
The seminar will feature presentations and discussions involving professionals from the advertising, public relations, branding and media industries.
The speakers include Dr Lekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria; Akogun Tokunbo Modupe, Founder and Chief Consultant of TPT International PR Limited; and Rotarian Ademola Akinbola, Managing Director of Brand Stewards Limited.
Chairman of the District 9111 Public Image Committee, Rotarian Olalekan Otun, said the speakers would examine ways of developing a public image that goes beyond visibility to create sustained influence and impact.
District 9112 Public Image Committee Chairman and Past Assistant Governor, Chinedu Ebo, said the programme would provide an opportunity for Rotarians and media practitioners to gain practical insights into strengthening Rotary’s brand and communicating its humanitarian work more effectively.
Goodwill messages are expected from Rotary International President, Rotarian Yinka Babalola; Rotary Foundation Trustee, Rotarian Ijeoma Pearl Okoro; Rotary Public Image Coordinator in Africa and Past Assistant Governor, Rotarian Ibim Semenitari; Pioneer District 9111 Governor, Dr Wole Kukoyi; and Immediate Past District 9111 Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele, among other Rotary leaders.
The event will also attract media and communications leaders, including Dr Sam Ayetutu, Chairman of the Lagos State Public Relations Council and District 9111 Governor-elect; Mr Gbenga Adefaye, Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism; Rotarian Dr Sola Akinsiku, President of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria; Rotarian Ehi Braimah, District 9112 Governor-nominee and Publisher of Naija Times; Azuh Arinze, Publisher of Yes Magazine and Past Assistant Governor; Rotarian Muyiwa Akintunde, Publisher of Breezy News; and Rotarian Victor Ojelabi, Publisher of FreelaNews Online.
Other media practitioners and communications professionals are also expected to attend the seminar, which is aimed at deepening understanding of Rotary’s humanitarian work and promoting stronger communication and public image practices.
Bakare and Abidoye, as the chief hosts, are expected to welcome speakers, guests, Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends of Rotary to the event.
