JMG Limited has strengthened its workplace health initiative with a breast cancer awareness session for employees, featuring Dr Asishana Sanni, Group Head of Medical Services at NEM Health Limited, and Gloria Ibeziako, Chief Human Resources Officer at JMG Limited, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2026.
The programme, organised by the Lagos-headquartered engineering solutions company, focused on early detection, recognising potential warning signs and seeking timely medical attention.

The initiative brought medical education into the workplace, providing employees with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about breast cancer and understand the importance of making informed decisions about their health.
Dr Sanni, who has more than 14 years of clinical experience, led the session, discussing breast cancer, possible warning signs and the importance of consulting healthcare professionals when unusual changes are noticed.
Held under the theme, “Every Story Is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” the programme also highlighted the different experiences of people affected by breast cancer, drawing attention to the importance of early diagnosis, appropriate medical care and compassionate support for patients and their families.

The initiative comes against the backdrop of a significant cancer burden in Nigeria.
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer’s Global Cancer Observatory 2022 estimates, Nigeria recorded 32,278 new breast cancer cases, making it the country’s most frequently diagnosed cancer overall.
The disease also accounted for 16,332 recorded deaths in the same estimates.
The figures reinforce the importance of sustained awareness and access to appropriate medical services, particularly in communities where delayed diagnosis remains a challenge.
The World Health Organization (WHO), in its July 2026 breast cancer fact sheet, noted that approximately 2.4 million women were diagnosed with the disease globally in 2024, while an estimated 694,000 deaths were recorded.
The organisation emphasised that early diagnosis and timely treatment remain essential to improving outcomes.
It also identified warning signs such as breast lumps or thickening, changes in breast size or appearance, skin dimpling and unusual nipple discharge as reasons to seek medical evaluation.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, Gloria Ibeziako stressed that access to reliable health information plays an important role in protecting individuals and their families.

“Being properly informed about our health is one of the most important steps we can take towards protecting ourselves and the people we care about.
At JMG, we believe that creating awareness goes beyond sharing information.
It is about empowering our people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, recognise when to seek medical attention and take their wellbeing seriously,” she said.
The session attracted employees participating both physically and virtually, allowing members of staff across the organisation to benefit from the discussions.
The 2026 programme also builds on JMG’s previous breast cancer awareness activities. In November 2025, the company held what was described as its inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Programme, facilitated by Dr Gold Ukwute.
That earlier engagement featured a practical demonstration on breast self-examination and encouraged employees to make health awareness a continuous practice rather than an annual observance.
During the 2025 programme, JMG Managing Director Mazen Jubaili underscored the importance of maintaining awareness beyond the commemorative month, stating: “Awareness is not a one-month campaign; it’s a year-round practice.”
The continuation of the initiative reflects a broader approach to employee wellbeing, particularly the role organisations can play in making health education more accessible and encouraging preventive health practices.
Established in Nigeria in 1998, JMG Limited provides integrated power and electromechanical solutions, including power generation, solar energy, cooling systems, vertical transportation and electrical infrastructure.
The company operates across Nigeria, with its headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Through its employee health education initiatives, JMG is extending its corporate responsibility beyond its technical operations, recognising that a healthier workforce also depends on access to reliable information, timely medical attention and a workplace culture that encourages people to take their wellbeing seriously.
