Nigeria’s Flamingos have made history by reaching their first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final after defeating Brazil 3-1 in the semi-finals.
The young Super Falcons side produced a strong performance in Morocco to overcome the South Americans and book a place in the championship match.
Queen Joseph opened the scoring for Nigeria, while Awawu Bashiru netted a brace to seal the victory. Brazil managed a late consolation goal but could not prevent the Flamingos from advancing.
The win marks a significant milestone for Nigerian women’s football, as it is the first time the Flamingos have reached the final of the tournament. It is also the first time an African nation has advanced to the final of the competition.
Nigeria will now face Japan in the final. Japan secured their place by defeating North Korea in the other semi-final.
The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, November 7.
