FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono has spoken for the first time following the tragic death of CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, describing the period as the most difficult days of his life.
In a statement released through his club, Owono expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
“These are the most difficult days of my life. It’s hard for me to find the words, and I find it very difficult to come to terms with everything that has happened,” he said.
“I feel enormous pain over the loss of Jesús. I think of him, his family and all the people who loved him. I know there will be many issues to address, and I will face whatever comes with all due respect.
“But right now, honestly, I can’t think of anything other than Jesús and the pain we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesús.”
De Miguel died on Tuesday after sustaining serious injuries in a collision with Owono during a Spanish second-division match on Monday. The incident occurred in stoppage time and led to the abandonment of the game.
The football world has continued to pay tribute to the 30-year-old striker.
