A teenager fleeing from Border Patrol agents crashed his vehicle into a trailer in El Paso, Texas, early Thursday morning, killing himself and six others, including a Mexican male.

The victims were all inside a four-door car when the 18-year-old crashed near a building shortly approximately at 2:15am, El Paso Police Sergeant Robert Gómez said.

Three more were injured and were all rushed to a local hospital.

The three were named as Guatemalan national, Wilmur Gómez, 25;  Omar García Hernández, an 18-year-old Mexican native from the border town of Juárez; and a Mexican 16-year-old, who was not named and lived in Juárez.

All three were in stable condition, according to sergeant Gómez.

The ages and nationalities of the victims weren’t immediately known, Gómez added.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said in a statement that Border Patrol agents from the El Paso Sector had responded to a report of suspicious activity near the border with Mexico.

The agents initiated a vehicle stop but the teenager tried to avoid them by accelerating at a higher speed east bound from New Mexico into El Paso.
