The Rotary Club of Alausa, Ikeja inducted its new members on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Eriths Apartments and Suits, Awuse Estate, Salvation Bus Stop, Opebi.

The club, District 9110, whose 2021-2022 theme is “Serve to Change Lives” also held its anniversary and membership series themed ‘Membership: Nurturing a new club’ after ticking 12months of its establishment under its Chartered President, Prince Adeyemi Aseperi-Shonibare.

The lead speaker at the event was AG Mufutau Adelatan, with PDG Bola Oyebade as the special guest of honour.

The newly inducted members were the publisher of Freelanews, Rotarian Victor Ojelabi, Olushola Okunade and Grace Ojobu.

Joining them in their induction ceremony were Rotary Club of Ikeja chartered president, Prince Aseperi-Shonibare and other Rotary Club of Ikeja officers.

In his remarks and while thanking the club members for the opportunity, Ojelabi said he joined the club to have a better platform to serve humanity.

“On behalf of other inductees, I wish to appreciate all present for accepting us into the club and providing a great platform for us to serve humanity,” Ojelabi said.

The Chartered President revealed to the newly inducted members the benefits inherent in being a member of Rotary, being one of the most influential international clubs around,

“There is always going to be an opportunity for everyone — there is always going to be space for everyone to grow and succeed,” Prince Aseperi-Shonibare said.

Rotary was founded more than 116 years ago, on February 23, 1905, by Paul P. Harris, an attorney, who wanted to create a professional group with the same friendly spirit he felt in the small town of his youth.

Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

As Rotary grew, members pooled their resources and used their talents to serve their communities. The organisation’s dedication to this ideal is best expressed in its motto: Service Above Self.
