Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has signed the N110 billion allocation bill for 2022 into law.
Governor Sule praised the House of Assembly members for passing the budget in the shortest time possible despite their busy schedules at the signing ceremony in Lafia.
Sule claimed that he proposed the budget on December 9, but that assembly members sacrificed weekends and vacations to guarantee that it was passed.
“The assembly passed it on December 22 with a N114 billion increase, but after going through it and based on the realities on the ground, I brought it back for adjustment, and they sat again on Wednesday, December 29 and passed it into law.
“This kind of commitment by the honourable members is the first of its kind since the state was created in 1996,” Governor Sule added.”
Sule further said that the budget performance of the administration in 2021 is 64 per cent, and he his determined to surpass that performance in 2022.
He expressed optimism that with the caliber of persons appointed and inaugurated as Commissioners and other aides, the administration would perform more than the previous years.
Sule also announced that he would flag off the kilometers dualization of Shendam road from Total filling station through government house to Alkurba.
“On that same day I will also flag off the construction of Agbashi/Edadu road in Doma Local Government Area to open the communities in the area to Urban areas.
MoneyCentral recalls that on Dec.9, Gov. Abdullahi Sule presented the 2022 budget proposal of N109.8 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
MoneyCentral also recalls that on Dec.22, the assembly passed N114. 3bilion as 2022 budget, but had to review it downward and pass in an emergency sitting on December 29 as a result of request by the governor.
Earlier, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly presented the budget to the governor for his assent.
The Speaker therefore promised that the assembly would continue to support the governor through legislation for the overall development of the state.
