Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has been accused of making a ‘reckless statement’.

It happened that Adejobi took to his social media handle to celebrate women. He advocated that women should be respected and adored while noting that they provide stability among other things.

“It’s only an insame man who can beat up a woman. A woman is a strong electron that charges up your success and stability in life, so respect and adore her. I love and adore our women, mothers, and sisters. Ire o,” he wrote.

@chiukwujioke, however, questioned his assertion by posting the photos of Jennifer Seifegha, a woman injured during the election process in Lagos.

Recall that thugs allegedly injured Seifegha at the Nuru/Oniwo Ward, Polling Unit 065, in Surulere while she was waiting to vote.

Seifegha said that she got to the polling unit around 9.00 a.m. to exercise her civic right and, after doing her verification, was in the queue awaiting her turn to vote.

“I later sat down when the queue seemed not to be moving until I noticed a group of guys who came to survey the area because they did not vote and left afterwards.

“After about an hour, they came back, and then there was a commotion, and I just felt an impact on my face,” she said.

She said that a lady put a cloth over her eyes to help contain the bleeding, and then they went into hiding because they were unsure if the thugs were still around.

There had been clamour for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the incident, but no one has been brought to book till now.

In his response, the force PRO clapped back at the tweep in a way many adjudged unprofessional.

“Na me beat am??? Maybe you dont know this assertion is my opinion and principle. And it’s mine,” he wrote.

This response has drawn many diverse reactions, which were mostly negative, from Twitter users, who believed the police officer should have been diplomatic in treating the issue.
