The 20 times Broadcast Station of the Year, Channels TV, has apologised over an error in attribution committed against the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Recall that Freelanews reported how the station wrongly attributed a report to Obi recently at an event. Read full report here.

The controversial post, which was quickly brought down, has been replaced with an apology.

However, the apology seemed to have come too late for the Obidients, an appellation for Peter Obi’s supporters, who felt the broadcast station was intentionally attacking and maligning their principal.

The station was also accused of being the mouthpiece for the ruling All progressives Congress, a party on whose platform, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the presidency by polling 8,739,249 votes.

In response, the Obidients had launched a campaign against the station with an hashtag #CancelChannelsTV, which has been trending on Twitter.

Obi was declared the second runner-up with 6,093,962 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Abubakar Atiku, came second by polling 6,984,290 votes.
