Accord Party Lagos candidates were unveiled in Lagos as the party presented 27 contenders for the 2027 general elections

The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party on Saturday unveiled 27 candidates for the 2027 general elections, formally presenting its governorship, senatorial and legislative contenders and issuing Certificates of Return at a ceremony held in Lagos.

The candidates include the party’s governorship standard-bearer, Sowore Robert, three senatorial candidates and aspirants for various legislative positions across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Chairman of the Accord Party and Lagos West Senatorial candidate, Dele Oladeji, said the presentation of certificates officially confirmed the emergence of the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections.

Oladeji described the Accord Party Lagos Candidates as a credible alternative for residents seeking a different political direction in the state.

According to Oladeji, the party is founded on the principles of social justice, equity and welfare-oriented governance, with a strong commitment to improving citizens’ welfare, enhancing security and protecting lives and property.

“Today is significant because it affirms the candidates of the Accord Party in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections.

We are issuing Certificates of Return and formally presenting them as the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections,” Oladeji said.

“Lagos residents seek a departure from the current political order, and the Accord Party possesses the vision and capacity to deliver meaningful change.”

The unveiling ceremony also provided a platform for candidates to outline their priorities and vision ahead of the elections.

The party’s candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Solomon Wahab, said his decision to contest was motivated by a desire to improve governance and ensure that citizens received greater benefits from democratic rule.

Wahab called for increased accountability in government and urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the electoral process.

Wahab also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct transparent, free and credible elections.

For the Badagry Federal Constituency, House of Representatives candidate Joseph Jehoshaphat pledged to tackle infrastructure deficits and youth unemployment if elected.

Jehoshaphat said attracting federal projects and development initiatives to the constituency would be among his key priorities.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Somolu Constituency II, Abisoye Obayon, said his ambition was driven by a desire to promote development and create more opportunities for residents.

Obayon expressed confidence that voters would support candidates with strong community ties and practical solutions to local challenges.

A notable highlight of the event was the call for greater female representation in public office.

The party’s Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Blessing Maduka-Sunday, advocated increased participation of women in politics, describing the low number of women in elective positions as a challenge to inclusive governance.

Maduka-Sunday encouraged more women to seek elective offices and called for policies focused on women’s empowerment, poverty reduction and wealth creation.
