The 71-year-old suspect, identified as Jeriel Peter, was apprehended by officers of the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, to death.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the tragic incident occurred on November 4 following a misunderstanding between the couple.

The suspect reportedly attacked his wife with both a knife and an axe, inflicting multiple injuries that proved fatal.

Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division swiftly responded to a distress call and rushed the victim to hospital, where she was later confirmed dead. Her body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, condemned the gruesome act, describing it as unacceptable and deeply troubling.

He directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

Morris also warned against all forms of domestic violence, urging residents to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to aggression.
