Entrepreneur alleges libel, privacy breach and impersonation over Instagram posts linked to Frank Edoho amid an ongoing marital dispute

Entrepreneur Adekoya Ibukunoluwa has instituted legal proceedings against Sandra Edoho, seeking ₦100 million in damages over alleged defamatory Instagram publications that linked her to an extramarital affair with Sandra’s estranged husband and broadcaster Frank Edoho.

The memorandum of claim, dated July 17, 2026, was filed in Lagos by Festus Ogun, Managing Partner of FOLEGAL, on behalf of Adekoya.

The claimant accused Sandra of libel, fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of privacy, alleging that a series of posts published on the Instagram account @vivibella_designs falsely portrayed her as having an intimate relationship with Frank Edoho.

At the centre of the Adekoya defamation suit is a sequence of events the claimant said began in October 2023, when Adekoya and Frank Edoho allegedly met by chance at Hard Rock Café in Lekki, Lagos.

According to the court filing, the pair struck up a conversation over their shared support for Arsenal Football Club before exchanging contact details.

The claim further alleged that on November 19, 2023, Sandra impersonated Frank Edoho on WhatsApp and invited Adekoya to the family’s residence in Victoria Garden City, Lagos, promising her ₦10 million on the condition that she “honour the invitation.”

According to the legal documents, Sandra also allegedly posed as Frank Edoho’s brother, collected Adekoya and took her to the residence, where she was allegedly locked inside a room.

The claimant maintained that Frank Edoho, who was reportedly asleep when the incident occurred, later woke up, expressed surprise at the situation and apologised to Adekoya after learning what had happened.

The lawsuit alleged that tensions arising from Sandra and Frank Edoho’s marital breakdown in May 2026 marked a turning point.

Adekoya claimed Sandra subsequently embarked on what her lawyers described as a calculated campaign to damage her reputation by publishing her photograph, private WhatsApp conversations and a video on Instagram.

According to the filing, the posts identified Adekoya as one of several women allegedly involved in relationships with Frank Edoho.

One of the statements cited in the memorandum read: “Or is it the smelling prostitute whom you led into our home? Where I had a video record you escorting her to the gate.”

Adekoya’s legal team described the publication as “blatantly false, mischievous and misleading,” arguing that it portrayed their client as “a prostitute, sex worker and a person of questionable character.”

The claimant further alleged that the publications spread rapidly across blogs and other online platforms, exposing her to cyberbullying, harassment, insults and public ridicule while causing significant reputational harm.

Through the action, Adekoya is asking the court to declare that the Instagram publication of May 19, 2026, was false, malicious and defamatory.

She is also seeking an order compelling Sandra to retract the posts and publish an unreserved apology.

In addition, the entrepreneur is asking the court for a perpetual injunction restraining Sandra from making similar publications in the future, ₦100 million in damages and the cost of the legal proceedings.

The memorandum also leaves room for an amicable resolution. Under the proposed terms, Sandra would delete the disputed posts, publish a public apology acknowledging the alleged impersonation of Frank Edoho and pay ₦20 million in damages as part of an out-of-court settlement.

The claimant’s lawyers gave Sandra seven days to respond to the allegations in accordance with Practice Direction No. 2 of the 2019 Lagos State High Court Civil Procedure Rules, warning that failure to do so would result in further legal action.

The lawsuit represents the latest legal twist involving the Edoho family, whose marital challenges have increasingly attracted public attention in recent months.

However, the allegations contained in the memorandum remain claims by the claimant and have yet to be tested before the court.

Sandra Edoho had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the filing as of the time of reporting, and no determination has been made by the court on the merits of the case.

The case also underscores the growing number of defamation disputes arising from social media publications in Nigeria, where courts have increasingly been asked to balance freedom of expression with the protection of individual reputation and privacy rights.
