A UK-based Nigerian woman has been shot dead on her way from the burial ceremony she organised for her mother in Lagos.

It was reported that the sad occurrence happened when the victim and mother of two, Bola Aworetan, and her children were returning to Ibadan, Oyo State after the event.

According to a post by one of her friend, the incident, which looked like an assassination, happened at the Guru Maharaji Village, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“They say we never die but we just change form and continue our existence in another realm. If this is true, I’m sadly mourning you with my tears. It would have been joy to our world if you weren’t cut down.

“Bola Aworetan (CO99, Pol. Sci) came home from the UK to bury her mum last week or so, and same last week, little did she know that she won’t return to the UK again to continue her life,” one of her friend wrote social media.

Bola was cut down in the presence of her two kids as they made their way back to Ibadan from the Civic Centre, Victoria Island Lagos where the event was held.

“This most adorable, pretty woman, was shot down in her car in front of her two children at Guru Maharaji in Ibadan, this past Thursday; unwilling forcing her to escort her mum to the great unknown.

“Your death is too gripping for me. I am bewildered and I don’t know how to mourn you. I don’t even think that I will ever do. And if it’s true that death is not a full stop but a comma, may you continue the remainder of your time in a better realm.

“May your beautiful soul not wander around. Adios Bola,” she concluded.

The deceased had traveled to Nigeria from the United Kingdom where she lived and worked, to bury her mum at a party, which attracted people from all walks of life.
