As soon as the Union-Jack downed
We beneath the earth found
Our destiny and our wealth
We discovered what’s new and next
We left the soil that yields
Drummed danced and left the fields
It flowed so much and flushed
Our toil and sense it washed
Our neighbors we dashed our hoes
Others came sunk their nose and poles
The heavens heard our pumps
Friends and foes gave us thumbs
Sooner than we fathomed
Sharing led to guns
What blessed we now regret
And so wished we never met
Regret we sort our hoes
From those we thought help us hold
On no longer an accessible road
