The group reported a pre-tax profit of $273 million, marking a 269 percent year-on-year increase for the quarter ended 30 June 2025.
The quarterly figure represents over 40 percent of the group’s total pre-tax earnings for the entire previous year, which ended 31 March 2025.
Post-tax profit climbed even higher, rising by 408 percent to reach $156 million. This alone accounts for nearly half of the full-year post-tax earnings from 2024/2025.
Airtel Africa’s revenue also rose sharply, reaching $1.415 billion. This reflects a 24.9 percent increase in constant currency terms and 22.4 percent in reported currency.
The group cited easing currency pressures and recent tariff adjustments in Nigeria as key drivers of the revenue jump. Francophone Africa also contributed strong returns.
Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar expressed confidence in the business’s performance and future direction.
“We are very pleased with the strong growth in our operating and financial performance in the first quarter. The scale of this growth reflects sustained demand for our services and the strength of our business model to meet these demands,” he said.
Subscriber numbers grew by 9 percent across the group, with data users increasing by 17.4 percent to 75.6 million.
Airtel attributed the rise to focused digital innovation and efforts to enhance customer engagement.
With a strong start to the financial year, Airtel Africa remains optimistic.
