Michael Effiong James, Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, announces the passing of his wife, Oluwakemi Oyeteju James, after weeks of battling injuries from a domestic accident.

Grief has enveloped the family of Michael Effiong James following the passing of his wife, Oluwakemi Oyeteju James, after weeks of battling complications from a domestic accident.

James, who serves as Senior Special Assistant (Lagos Liaison) to Umo Eno, announced the sad development in an emotional statement released on behalf of the James, Oyediran, Ojikutu and Macaulay families.

In the statement, the grieving husband described the late Oluwakemi as not just his wife but his closest friend and a devoted mother whose love extended far beyond her immediate family.

“It is with a deep sense of sadness and loss that I, on behalf of the James, Oyediran, Ojikutu and Macaulay families, announce the passing of my very dear wife, Oluwakemi Oyeteju James,” he said.

According to him, she died after battling for several weeks following injuries sustained in a domestic accident.

James noted that her death has left the family devastated, but they remain comforted by their faith.

“She was my bestie, doting mother of our lovely biological children Kufre and Aniete and several other non biological children, wonderful friends, aunts, cousins and sisters,” he said.

Describing her personality, he added that she truly lived up to the meaning of her name.

“Kemi exemplified her name. She was caring to a fault, hard when need be, and a philanthropist extraordinaire.”

Family members say the late Oluwakemi was widely admired for her generosity, compassion and willingness to support others within and beyond her immediate community.

While the family continues to mourn the painful loss, James expressed gratitude to friends and well wishers who have reached out during the difficult period.

“We are devastated, but we know that God knows best and she is in a better place,” he said.

He also appealed to the public to remember the family in prayers as they navigate the moment of grief.

“We request your prayers during this incredibly difficult moment. May God continue to protect us all.”

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
