The Lagos State Headquarters of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, under State Evangelist, Venerable Superior Evangelist D.O. Ogunrombi, has issued a summon to the Shepherd in Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Idunnu Joshua Parish, Gowon Estate, Egbeda, Lagos.

Freelanews reports an embarrassing viral video showing some young females in white garments, guzzling alcoholic beverages, at an event recently, which portrayed the church in very negative light.

The Shepherd in Charge of the offending Parish, Senior Evangelist Abraham Oyebanji was expected to meet with the exco of the Lagos State Headquarters on Friday 28 October, 2022, at the Lagos State Headquarters, Celestial Church of Christ, Agudingbi Cathedral, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

When the disturbing video hit the internet, the church was shocked as the Celestial Church of Christ is a Bible believing Church that inculcates in her members the teachings of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, as contained in the scriptures. Hence, the church frowned at it in a strongly worded message through the head of media of CCC Worldwide, Dr. Kayode Ajala.

“An outstanding rule and tenet of the church, which is drummed into members at announcement time, during all our glorious Sunday services, is that consumption of alcohol is abominable and an aberration for all members of the Celestial Church of Christ.

“Given the foregoing, we remain in doubt that the dipsomaniacs in that video gone viral, are indeed bona-fide members of the Celestial Church of Christ. And as a church, we condemn the morally reprehensible actions of the guzzlers in that viral video in very strong terms.

“That notwithstanding, the church has begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the video in question and has confirmed that the said video was shot at the Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Service of the Celestial Church of Christ, Idunnu Joshua Parish, Gowon Estate, Egbeda, Lagos, headed by a Prophet Oyebanji,” he said.
