African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that he will resign if Nigeria does not begin to improve under an Atiku Abubakar-led government.
Amaechi made the remarks during an interview on NewsCentral TV, where he discussed the party’s proposed policies ahead of the 2027 general election.
“I’m sure the president knows my character, the presidential candidate (Atiku Abubakar) knows my character, that if I’m not performing, I may likely leave government,” he said.
When asked whether he would resign as vice-president if he failed to perform, Amaechi replied, “Of course. I’m not joking.”
He further stated that if Nigeria does not begin to change one year after an ADC administration assumes office, he would step down.
Amaechi expressed confidence that an Atiku-led government would earn public support within its first year, adding that Nigerians would recognise the difference in leadership.
He clarified that he was not promising that every national problem would be solved within 12 months, but insisted that citizens should begin to feel a positive difference.
