AMVCA 2026 Nominees Set for Highly Anticipated Live Reveal

AMVCA 2026 Nominees will be revealed on March 29 as Africa Magic confirms live announcement hosted by Chimezie Imo

Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have confirmed that nominees for the 2026 edition will be officially unveiled on Sunday, March 29, in a live broadcast expected to draw widespread attention across the African film and television industry.

The announcement was made via the awards’ official social media platforms, with Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo set to host the live nominee reveal, marking a key milestone ahead of the main ceremony.

“The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees. Watch the #AMVCA12 Nominee Announcement LIVE | March 29 | 7 PM WAT on #AfricaMagic channels,” the organisers stated.

The AMVCA 2026 nominees announcement continues the tradition of celebrating excellence in African film and television, recognising creative talent across the continent’s rapidly evolving entertainment landscape.

Entries for the 12th edition opened on January 11 and closed on February 15, 2026, with eligibility limited to productions publicly exhibited between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

Submissions included films released in cinemas, on television, and streaming platforms.

This year’s edition will feature 32 categories, including 18 jury-decided awards and 11 audience-voted categories, alongside special honours such as the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards.

Organisers also introduced new categories for Best Indigenous Language North Africa and Best Indigenous Language Central Africa, broadening regional representation and highlighting the diversity of African storytelling.

The main ceremony is scheduled to hold in May 2026 in Lagos, where winners will be officially crowned in what is expected to be one of the continent’s most prestigious entertainment events.
