The police, in a statement issued on Tuesday by spokesman DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest of three male suspects on Monday, September 22, 2025, following a swift response to a distress call from Isuaniocha Bridge in Awka North.

According to Ikenga, the trio were apprehended after attacking a commercial tricycle rider and stealing his yellow tricycle, registered as NZM 92 YH.

The victim was rescued and taken to hospital, where he is reportedly responding to treatment.

“On sighting the operatives, the suspects attempted to flee but were given a hot chase and apprehended,” Ikenga said.

The suspects were identified as Kosisochukwu Nweke (26), Emmanuel Eze (24), and Osondu Ifeanyi (20). Police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad carried out the arrest using technology-guided intelligence.

The stolen tricycle has been successfully recovered.

The Anambra robbery suspects arrested now face further investigation, with authorities working to uncover more links to possible criminal networks.

Ikenga confirmed that they will be charged in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
