APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, predicts a surge in governors defecting to the ruling party, asserting that the APC’s 2027 victory is “a done deal” following recent high-profile defections from NNPP and PDP
All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has confidently stated that more governors from opposition parties will join the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This announcement came as he welcomed a group of defectors from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Kano State chapter, led by Senator Kawu Ismailia.
Ganduje expressed strong confidence in the APC’s ability to win upcoming elections before 2027, highlighting recent defections, including that of the Delta State governor and key PDP figures.

“The governor of Delta State is now in APC, including his cabinet, including all the members of the State Assembly and House of Representatives, and the timber and caliber of PDP, now in APC, even including the former vice presidential candidate coming into our party,” Ganduje stated.
He further hinted at ongoing efforts to attract more governors, saying, “More governors are coming into APC, I assure you, and places where we have election, APC in shallah will win those elections.”
Senator Kawu Ismailia, who led the NNPP defectors, described the move as a “coming together of like-minds.”

When questioned about the impact of his defection, he directed attention to the 2023 election results, emphasizing his strong performance compared to Kwankwaso in Kano South.
