The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and a foremost aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has thrashed all this opponents at the just concluded presidential primary election held at Eagle Square in Abuja to emerged the party’s flagbearer.

Recall that the governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, fmr Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole and former governors of Ogun and Akwa Ibom States, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun and Godswill Akpabio respectively, stepped down for Asiwaju Tinubu.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State scored 47 votes, the outgoing vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, polled a miserly 235 votes, and in a shocking turn of event, the former minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi polled 316 votes.

And according to the final votes counted at the APC convention, the former governor of Lagos State polled 1271 votes and has been declared winner of the election.

With this development, Asiwaju Tinubu would be facing off with PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election.

The election has, however, been declared free and fair to all aspirants.
