Mikel Arteta urges Arsenal to play with “no fear” and intensity ahead of their decisive Sporting CP second-leg and key Premier League fixtures

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to show intensity and fearlessness as the club prepares for a decisive run of fixtures in London on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with the season entering a critical phase.

The message comes ahead of Wednesday’s second-leg European clash against Sporting CP, where Arsenal hold a narrow advantage following a 1-0 first-leg victory.

The tie places Arsenal in a high-pressure situation, with qualification to the next stage of the competition at stake and expectations rising around the squad’s ability to deliver under intensity.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta delivered a forceful message about mentality, urging his players to embrace the occasion without hesitation.

“No fear, pure fire. That’s it. The opportunity is unbelievable. Let’s confront it, let’s go for it,” Arteta said.

The Arsenal manager reinforced his demand for aggression and commitment when asked about handling pressure during the crucial stage of the season.

“Fire. I’m on fire. That’s it. Zero fear,” he added.

Arteta’s comments come during a demanding period for Arsenal, with recent Premier League results slowing momentum across competitions, even as the club remains in contention on multiple fronts.

Attention now shifts to a decisive week that includes the Sporting CP tie followed by a major league fixture against Manchester City, a match widely viewed as potentially influential in the title race.

Arsenal forward Eberechi Eze backed the manager’s rallying message, stressing unity within the squad and focus on performance.

“The boss is passionate, and you can see the fire he has. It’s about us and what we do,” Eze said.

With pressure mounting and expectations intensifying, Arsenal’s response in the coming days is expected to play a defining role in shaping the outcome of their season.
