Arteta praise boosts Chelsea’s title credentials as Arsenal prepare for a fierce London derby at Stamford Bridge

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday that the powerful Arteta praise directed at Chelsea reflects his belief that the Blues have earned the right to be spoken of as Premier League title contenders ahead of Sunday’s derby at Stamford Bridge.

Arteta’s side hold a six point lead over Chelsea after twelve matches in a season marked by Arsenal’s confident victories over Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea also arrive in strong form, buoyed by three consecutive league wins and a dominant three nil victory against Barcelona.

Despite Chelsea’s youthful squad and lingering perceptions that they are outsiders for the title, Arteta insisted that Enzo Maresca’s team have shown quality that demands respect.

He highlighted their recent achievements, including victories in the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup.

Speaking to reporters, he said the squad’s depth, coaching structure and style of play make their rise entirely deserved.

He described Chelsea as one of the most enjoyable sides to watch due to their fluidity, individual talent and clarity of approach.

Arteta added that Sunday’s match represents a significant opportunity for both clubs. He said Arsenal are fully prepared for the challenge and expect an intense London derby against opponents in exceptional form.
