Dr Awele Elumelu is appointed Chair of Transcorp Hotels, bringing leadership in healthcare, philanthropy, and corporate governance to drive growth from 2026
Transcorp Hotels Plc, the hospitality subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, has appointed Dr Awele Elumelu as Chair of the company, effective 1 January 2026.

The announcement was made on the Nigerian Exchange Limited following the retirement of current Chair Emmanuel Nnorom, also effective 1 January 2026.
Dr Elumelu brings extensive leadership experience across healthcare, insurance, corporate governance, and philanthropy.
She currently chairs Avon Healthcare Limited and Avon Medical Practice, a network of hospitals and clinics, as well as Heirs Insurance Brokers.
She is also a founding Director of Heirs Holdings Limited.
A medical doctor with an MBBS from the University of Benin, Dr Elumelu has clinical experience in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Her training has been complemented by executive education at Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economics.
Her commitment to social impact is reflected in her role as Trustee and Co-Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Africa’s leading philanthropy for young entrepreneurs.
Through the foundation, she has supported over 24,000 young Africans with seed capital, training, and mentorship, while advocating for gender inclusion and economic empowerment.
