Barcelona Renew Victor Osimhen Pursuit as Catalan giants prepare summer bid for Galatasaray striker valued at €80m

FC Barcelona have renewed their interest in Nigeria international Victor Osimhen and are preparing a fresh summer approach for the Galatasaray forward, according to reports in Spain.

The Catalan club view the 27-year-old striker as the natural successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose responsibilities are gradually being reduced as part of Barcelona’s squad transition.

Barcelona Renew Victor Osimhen Pursuit comes amid the club’s long-term rebuilding strategy, with recruitment chiefs identifying the striker’s pace, physical strength and clinical finishing as key attributes for the next phase of development.

Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most consistent goal scorers since the 2022/23 season, when he fired Napoli to the Serie A title and finished as the club’s top scorer.

His performances have continued to attract attention across the continent.

Galatasaray, however, are under no immediate pressure to sell. The Turkish champions remain on course for domestic honours and are enjoying a strong European campaign, driven largely by Osimhen’s goals.

Club officials are understood to be pleased with the forward’s decisive impact and would prefer to retain him for at least another season. Juventus have also been linked with the striker in recent months.

Despite that stance, Galatasaray have reportedly placed a valuation of around €80m on Osimhen should Barcelona or any other European heavyweight formalise their interest.

The figure would represent a profit on the €75m fee paid earlier this season to secure his permanent transfer from Napoli.

From Galatasaray’s perspective, such a deal would reinforce the club’s financial stability while reflecting the striker’s outstanding contribution.

For Barcelona, securing a prolific forward entering his prime would be a significant statement of intent.

Osimhen’s statistics underpin the growing interest. The Nigerian forward registered 37 goals and seven assists last season and has followed with another prolific return, despite missing matches during the Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria finish third.

His performances in the UEFA Champions League have further enhanced his reputation, underlining his ability to deliver on Europe’s biggest stage.

Osimhen remains under contract at Galatasaray until 2029, placing the Turkish club in a strong negotiating position, while leaving the door open should Barcelona convert their renewed pursuit into a formal bid.
