The Belgian youth international joins from Club Brugge on a contract running until 2031 as Barcelona continue investing in emerging talent

Barcelona have signed 18-year-old Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge for a reported €8.5 million fee, handing one of Belgium’s most promising young attacking talents a long-term contract with the Spanish champions.

Barcelona confirmed the transfer on Friday, July 31, 2026, announcing that Bisiwu had agreed a deal that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 30, 2031.

The move represents another significant step in the teenager’s rapid rise and reflects Barcelona’s continued focus on developing young players with the potential to make an impact at the highest level.

“FC Barcelona and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jesse Bisiwu, who signs up to be a blaugrana until 30 June 2031,” the club said in a statement.

Bisiwu joins Barcelona after emerging as one of Belgium’s brightest youth prospects.

The winger has represented Belgium at youth level and attracted wider attention during the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where he was named in the tournament’s Best XI after helping his country reach the semi-finals.

Born on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu developed his early footballing skills at OH Leuven before moving to the Club Brugge academy in 2020.

His progress through the Belgian club’s youth structure eventually earned him valuable experience in senior football with Club NXT, Club Brugge’s reserve side.

Bisiwu made his Belgian Second Division debut for Club NXT in 2023 at just 15 years old.

He went on to make 36 appearances for the reserve team, gaining an important grounding in competitive senior football despite never making a first-team appearance for Club Brugge.

At youth level, he also featured 14 times in the UEFA Youth League over the past two seasons, scoring three goals.

Barcelona have highlighted Bisiwu’s pace, physical strength and dribbling ability as key qualities behind their decision to bring him to Spain, describing him as a player with “a great future ahead”.

The teenager is expected to begin his Barcelona career with the club’s reserve side, where he will continue his development and adapt to the demands of Spanish football before potentially progressing towards the senior squad.

The transfer adds another promising name to Barcelona’s summer recruitment activity, with Bisiwu following Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi as reported arrivals at the Catalan club.

For Bisiwu, the move also marks a significant moment in Belgian football’s growing connection with Barcelona. He becomes the latest Belgian player to represent the club, following in the footsteps of Thomas Vermaelen and Fernand Goyvaerts.

The €8.5 million reported fee represents a considerable investment in a player who is still only 18, but Barcelona’s decision reflects the club’s belief that Bisiwu has the attributes and potential to develop into a first-team asset.

For now, the young winger’s immediate task will be to settle into life in Catalonia, continue his progression with the reserve side and prove that the confidence placed in him can translate into a successful career at one of Europe’s most celebrated clubs.
