The command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Nafiu Habib, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, saying the case was reported on May 15, 2026, by the victim’s father, a resident of the community.

According to Habib, the complainant alleged that the suspect, identified as Hamza Yahaya, lured the minor to a hideout within the area and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

The police spokesman said detectives attached to the Toro Division immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving the complaint and arrested the suspect.

Habib stated that although Yahaya denied the latest allegation during interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting the victim on three previous occasions at the same location.

The victim and the suspect were later taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment, while the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.

The police commissioner also urged parents, guardians and community members to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities capable of endangering children.

In another development, the command confirmed the arrest of a suspected motorcycle thief and the recovery of a stolen Haojue motorcycle in the Gwallameji area.

Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to trace the rightful owner of the motorcycle before its release in line with due process.
