Benedict Akika

Benedict Akika, a prominent PDP chieftain in Oyo State, was kidnapped at his Olorunda residence on Wednesday night by armed gunmen.

 

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]enedict Akika, a well-known chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, was kidnapped on Wednesday night.

Armed men invaded his Olorunda residence in the Lagelu Local Government Area, taking him away to an unknown destination.

Witnesses say the gunmen, heavily armed, threatened to shoot anyone who resisted. A family source revealed that Akika was relaxing with his family when the attackers arrived, firing sporadic gunshots to scare residents and passersby.

The kidnapping occurred just weeks after Akika had provided work tools worth millions to widows and the less privileged in the area. As of now, the police have not made an official statement regarding the incident.
