Bet9ja Foundation completes 206 humanitarian projects

The Bet9ja Foundation says it has so far completed 206 humanitarian projects across 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in about two years since it started operations in Nigeria

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Executive Director of Bet9ja Foundation, Ada Cuomo, disclosed this during a media tour of the Foundation’s new office in Lagos, stressing that the organisation is willing to do more to positively impact the lives of citizens nationwide.

“In just about two years, we’ve visited 33 states and impacted about 180 communities,” she said. “Over 180 of our projects fall under five pillars of education, healthcare, community infrastructure, and youth empowerment.”

According to her, solar-powered boreholes were installed in many communities in the north to provide water for residents of the affected communities.

“The Foundation also supported micro, small, and medium businesses with credit, while educational grants were given to hundreds of students across the country,” Cuomo stated.

In just about two years, we’ve visited 33 states and impacted about 180 communities.

She said the Foundation had reached over 65,000 Nigerians, with the South-West emerging as the most impacted geopolitical zone with 110 projects. The South-South followed with 28, and the South-East with 26.

“We’ve partnered with different organisations to deliver solar power projects, distribute solar panels, and dig water boreholes, especially in the North,” Cuomo added.

According to Cuomo, the Foundation has also focused on youth development by organising training on writing business plans, CVs, and employability skills.

“We’ve hosted graduate employability and entrepreneurship summits, and run youth executive programmes to help bright entrepreneurs scale their businesses,” she revealed.

Further, Cuomo noted that the Foundation awarded scholarships to 100 undergraduates in public universities.

“We don’t stop at providing support,” she said. “We follow up and monitor beneficiaries for six to seven months to ensure they are on track and doing what they set out to do.”

The Bet9ja Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of the sports betting brand.
