Big Brother Naija reality show star, Seyi Awolowo, has shared the challenges he faced growing up during an interview with popular media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
The grandson of the late Obafemi Awolowo revealed that he was disowned by his father several times.
Seyi discussed his turbulent upbringing in a polygamous household, explaining that his father, who had three wives, kept detailed files on each of his children. He stated, “My father disowned me a couple of times. Not just me, a couple of us because my father married three wives.”
He further described how his father would write letters to formally disown his children, reducing their identities to mere names on a list. “My father wrote letters to cut off his children, reducing our identities to mere names on a list. We all have files. ‘As of right now, your name is just Seyi, full stop’,” Seyi recounted.
