Iyana Ipaja, a popular part of Lagos State, under Alimosho Local Government, is currently in uproar as clashes between touts, police and the restricted cycles operators have been reported.

Noise of gunshots were also heard as the police battle motorcycles, popularly called Okada, and tricycles, also called Keke Marwa, riders over the recent Lagos State government’s decision to restrict or ban their operations.

Recall that the ban on both Okada and Keke in some 15 local governments and local council development areas in Lagos took effect last Saturday as police were deployed to enforce compliance.

Despite the government promising to provide alternative means of transportation for Lagosians in the wake of the ban in certain areas of the metropolis, the decision is still widely condemned by residents as commuters were left to trek many distances and struggle to find means of reaching their destinations.
