City struck first through Erling Haaland, who opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a trademark finish.
But Brighton rallied in the second half, with veteran James Milner calmly slotting home a penalty in the 67th minute to level the contest.
The decisive blow came in the 89th minute when substitute Brajan Gruda netted a dramatic winner, sparking wild celebrations among the home crowd. It was a power-packed finish that capped off Brighton’s resilient display.
The victory lifted the Seagulls into 10th place with four points, ending their shaky start to the campaign that had seen one defeat and one draw.
For Manchester City, the loss deepened concerns after last week’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham, leaving Pep Guardiola’s men 12th with just three points from three games.
