Members of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) have demonstrated that the price of success is more responsibility by re-electing the Steve Babaeko-led executive council for a second term. The renewal of the two-year term of executive board members was endorsed after an election held on Saturday during the 49th annual general congress of the association in Lagos, where members were returned to lead the Association for the next two years.

Steve Babaeko, Founder, X3M Ideas, a leading creative agency, retained his position as the AAAN president, while other executive members who will be steering the ship of leadership as returning executives include Jenkins Alumona, Vice President; Tope Jemerigbe, Publicity Secretary, Tola Obi, Assistant Publicity Secretary; and Kayode Ebatamehi, Treasurer.

In the same vein, the ex-officio members of the Exco, such as Tunji Olugbodi, Onuora Molokwu, Lanre Adisa and Biodun Adefila, also retained their leadership position as well.

Delivering the keynote address with the theme: ‘The new world order: Technology as a game changer’, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, stressed that the advertising industry has recorded huge and remarkable success through the deployment of technology.

The minister called on agencies to harness talents and competencies in digital technology and also urged them to pay attention to the menace of fake news, as it negatively affects brand promise. He added that the Federal Government was committed to strengthening the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) through the implementation of reform initiatives.
