The Celestial Church of Christ has reacted to a publication in the Punch Online Newspaper and clarified the confusion surrounding one cleric, David Oshoffa.

According to the newspaper, the said Oshoffa of the Celestial Church of Christ, Alpha and Omega, Ashipa Parish 4, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correction Centre by a Yaba, Lagos State Magistrate Court, for allegedly poisoning two siblings to death around the Seme Border in the Badagry area of the state.

In a release made available to Freelanews, the media head of CCC worldwide, Sup. Evang. Kayode Ajala, stated that the alleged suspect is not related to the founder of the church.

“We wish to make it clear that the said David Oshoffa is in no way related to the family of the late founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Prophet, Pastor, Founder S.B.J. Oshoffa. Let it be known that the said David Oshoffa is neither a direct offspring nor a relative of the family of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ.

“Speaking on behalf of the Oshoffa Family, a biological son of the late sage and the Shepherd in Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters Cathedral, Ketu, Lagos, Venerable Superior Evangelist Olatosho Oshoffa had this to say, “This David Oshoffa is not a member of the Oshoffa Family. He is neither a direct biological offspring nor a grandchild of our revered father, Reverend S.B.J. Oshoffa. We do not know him,” he said.

Corroborating this, the biological son of the late sage, Special Venerable Superior Evangelist Gabriel Oshoffa said, “This must be one of those who parade themselves as belonging to the Oshoffa Family when in reality, they are not members of the family. Even here in Abeokuta where I stay, there’s this fellow who goes about claiming to be an Oshoffa when he is not. David Oshoffa is definitely not a member of our family.”

A search through the administrative records of the church also reveals that the Celestial Church of Christ, Alpha and Omega Parish, Ashipa Parish 4, is completely missing on the list of parishes under the church administration.

There are no records, administrative or financial, to show that the parish in question is under the administration of the International Headquarters Office at Ketu, Lagos.
