District Governor Lanre Adedoyin inaugurates Rotary awareness committee, urging members to expand Rotary’s reach and inspire new membership across Nigeria.

District Governor Lanre Adedoyin has inaugurated a new Rotary Awareness Committee, tasking the team with spreading the ideals and impact of Rotary beyond its membership base.

During the inauguration ceremony, Adedoyin warmly welcomed the committee chairman, Rotarian David Olusegun, and members of his team.

He urged them to create awareness about Rotary’s humanitarian work and ensure that their efforts inspire non-Rotarians to join the movement.

The District Governor emphasised that the committee’s initiatives should go beyond internal engagements and focus on attracting new members by showcasing Rotary’s real impact on communities.

In his response, Rtn. Olusegun expressed gratitude to Adedoyin for his confidence in the committee and unveiled a strategic three-pronged action plan.

The plan includes an Inter-Club Quiz Competition, the installation of three large Rotary-branded signages, and a major Rotary Day celebration aimed at enhancing public visibility.

Olusegun also introduced key members and subcommittee chairs who will drive each component of the plan.

During the interactive session, members made valuable contributions.

Rtn. Emeka called for district support in securing necessary approvals and sought the governor’s endorsement for interviews and publicity, which Adedoyin assured would be provided.

Rtn. Celestine Omokamaro proposed that the signages be installed across Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Ogun State, a suggestion the governor approved.

He also advised the committee to consider refurbishing existing Rotary signs.

The District Secretary, Rtn. Tunde Olaleye, encouraged the team to align their awareness activities with membership drives and the establishment of new clubs.

Adedoyin agreed, further identifying Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government as an area without Rotary presence and urging the use of Rotary’s vocational training centres in Epe and Ikorodu for outreach.

In a symbolic moment, the District Governor decorated Olusegun with the committee chairman’s pin, officially marking the start of the committee’s operations.

The ceremony ended on a celebratory note with appreciation remarks from the District Secretary and a group photo session capturing the team’s enthusiasm for the work ahead.
