Edo newlyweds reportedly split two days after wedding over food dispute(VIDEO)

A newlywed couple in Edo State has reportedly separated two days after their wedding following a disagreement at their reception involving the bride and her mother-in-law over food arrangements.

A video circulating online appears to show a disagreement between the bride and her husband’s mother during the reception.

However, the identities of those involved and the full circumstances surrounding the incident have not been independently verified.

According to accounts accompanying the video, some guests from the groom’s family arrived at the reception after the available food had reportedly been exhausted.

The bride was said to have reserved a portion of food for her own parents and guests.

The report claimed that the groom’s mother approached the bride to request a small share from the reserved portion, but the bride allegedly declined.

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the mother-in-law attempted to take some food from the cooler, leading to a confrontation in which the bride allegedly took the food from her and returned it to the cooler.

The account further alleged that the exchange became physical, with both women reportedly slapping each other.

The husband was said to have learned about the incident after the reception had ended. According to the circulating account, the couple remained together briefly before he reportedly filed for divorce two days after the wedding.

The incident has generated discussions online about communication, family boundaries and conflict resolution in marriages, particularly regarding the role of extended family members in newly established homes.

Relationship experts often emphasise that disagreements during major life events can become more intense when expectations, cultural traditions and family responsibilities are not clearly communicated.

As reactions continue online, further clarification from those directly involved would be needed to establish the full details of what occurred.
