An appeal has been launched to locate the family of Alhaji Lanre Rasaki Adio, a retired Lagos State Government employee, following his reported death in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Adio, who is believed to be from Ebute-Metta, Lagos, reportedly slumped and died on Sunday evening while living alone in his apartment in Newark. His death has prompted members of the Nigerian community in the United States to begin searching for his relatives in Nigeria.

According to members of the community, neighbours had been trying unsuccessfully to reach his family after the incident. With no immediate next of kin identified, they have circulated an appeal across Nigerian diaspora networks and social media in the hope of locating his loved ones.

The deceased was described as a retired civil servant who had lived quietly in Newark, maintaining cordial relationships with fellow Nigerians in the area despite residing alone.

Community members are particularly appealing to residents of Ebute-Metta and other parts of Lagos who may know Alhaji Lanre Rasaki Adio or members of his family to come forward with credible information that could assist in notifying his next of kin.

The incident has also drawn attention to the challenges faced by elderly Nigerians living alone abroad, with diaspora groups urging families to ensure that emergency contact information remains updated and easily accessible in such situations.

Anyone with verified information about the family of Alhaji Lanre Rasaki Adio is encouraged to contact the Nigerian community members coordinating efforts to reunite his relatives with the deceased.
